F.A.Q

  • Is Evil Dominion right for me?

Simple way to settle this. Here, have a read of the first chapters to each book/arc and see for yourself. (Warning: May contain Spoilers in later books.) (PDF Format)

  • What other series’ does Evil Dominion more closely resemble?

When I describe the series in book-only terms, I tend to explain it as Percy Jackson with the attitudes of The Dresden Files. This is not the best comparison however, as the series takes inspiration from other mediums as well.

The best summary of the series is; “Avatar: The Last Airbender x Teen Titans, set in a more modern One Piece.” With themes akin to Avatar, dynamics like Teen Titans (the original), and a world inspired to be as diverse as Eiichiro Oda’s epic, this is no doubt the best explanation. Also, if you say it stars characters more akin to Team Rocket from the Pokémon series.

It also takes inspiration from such series’ as My Hero Academia, Dragonball Z, Star Trek, the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Codename: Kids Next Door, Sonic the Hedgehog and many other things I enjoyed as a child, except now aimed at a crossover demographic.

  • Who are those characters I see plastered everywhere around here?

Let’s go one by one.

The yellow and spikey haired character all over the site is Doctor Badguy (yes, I know the name is obvious.) He’s not super relevant to the books, and is just my silly little mascot character.

Overlord Zed is the darkly dressed guy with the claws and big teeth, that you’ll see most places. He is the main character of Evil Dominion series, being a short Villain with super strength and major personality issues. Most stem from his upbringing, as he has difficulty discerning between good and evil.

Doc Rec is the cyborg with the goggles and backpack of limbs. (Yes, the Doc Ock comparisons are on purpose.) He’s a timid but brilliant inventor that works for Zed, and deals with his own personality issues, if only because half of his brain is missing. He’s a good guy at heart, which is a very odd thing for a Villain to be.

July Jubilee is the tattooed and muscled woman; she is Zed’s second in command. While I’ll admit my… preferences are showing, she is probably one of most deep characters as well, being raised as a killer and trying to find meaning beyond that. Openly a flirt, with a strong sense of loyalty, she’s the only one who can make sure the team is work as it should.

I’ll leave the rest for you to read on your own. The cast is diverse and crazy, and I don’t know how I manage to keep track of them all.

  • What is unique about the World you created in Evil Dominion? Why should I care?

Sassy, but okay… here’s the spiel.

The World of Evil Dominion is fractured (it doesn’t really have a name) and everything you can imagine can live next to each other given the chance, in places labelled as “Dominions”. Cultures and citizens are highly separated by their borders, and even radically different biomes can exist next to each other in a tentative balance. Geography doesn’t make sense, and while anything exciting can lurk around each unexplored corner, it makes the people very unwilling to leave their Dominions – often growing insular, and rife with exploitation.

Only Heroes and Villains (and some others) tend to traverse these borders, the former – as the Hero Company – to help people, and the latter because of their individual, often selfish lust for power. A Villain that conquers more than one Dominion, is a Supervillain, and creates a Superdominion under their rule. While the Heroes are the only ones with superpowers, they have a Global Rogues Gallery to rank each of these mad despots by their strength, and by their threat to innocent people.

So, the choice is there. Be a Hero and protect the fractured world order, or become a Villain and tear down the boundaries that separate people. Which are you? Could you conquer this world?

  • That’s not enough. I need MORE story information.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. As in, this stuff contains MASSIVE SPOILERS.

This is basically a small summary leaflet for press and promotion. Please look if you are agent or more business minded and wish to consider the series further. Also do contact me, as I will be willing to send you a cover letter, a short summary, and sample of your chosen size.

If you wish to just enjoy the story, don’t read this. Or just skim it, if you’re still undecided.

  • For a book series aimed at an older demographic, the series looks very cartoon-y and anime-like?

I said “Crossover” demographic, meaning its enjoyable by both young adults and full adults.

I also understand that Evil Dominion does not look like other book series’ that most people are used to on store shelves. However I unabashedly take inspiration from any and all mediums, including books, comics, cartoons, anime, manga, TV and movies. I love bold colour and striking imagery, complimented by deep, complex, and purposeful stories.

I also take liberal inspiration from one of the best looking games ever made, Persona 5.

  • So, Evil Dominion isn’t suitable for my children?

The series is a “Crossover” audience, and sometimes takes a turn into subject matter that needs more seriousness, more intensity, and does not shy away from tough, awkward or gory scenes. However, it is also not as constantly as intense as some material – like say, Game of Thrones – and often prefers to keep to a more enjoyable, adventurous tone.

It contains Swearing, Violence and Sexual themes, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone below 13. However, if your child is well-adjusted, then the series is not often dark enough from them to be harmed in reading below the mandated 18+ Age Rating. There are maybe a couple of scenes you may want to read for yourself first. Reader Discretion is Advised.

  • Can I drop in at any point? Do I have to read the whole series in order?

It’s recommended that you do read from the beginning, to get the full impact of the story.

However, each book is generally constructed so that you should be able to drop in at the beginning of any of them and know what is happening. So, Rise of the Red Hand, Brothers of the Sun, Entry of the Gladiators and Anarchy Circuit INITIATE are all generally fine jumping on points. It will generally get harder as the series gets on though, so start with 1 or 2 for sure.

  • Who does the Art for the series/website?

All the art is made by myself, unless stated otherwise. My digital art skill is self-taught and mostly specialised in character design, though I mainly do it to accompany the book or website.

  • With these skills and interests, why not make a Comic instead?

Writing, is honestly the best medium to my story, for one reason. Absolute Freedom. There are no limits for the series based on other abilities, time or resources, I’m able to take it wherever I want. (I mean, have you seen July?!) However, if the opportunity came to expand the series into other mediums, I would not be opposed at all.

  • I found a spelling or phrasing error in your books.

Sorry about that. I’m currently working without a full time editor. If you do find an error in any version and would like to do me a great service in pointing it out so I can rectify it, please contact us with the subject: ISSUE: WORDING ERROR and detail where you found it.

  • Can I make Fanart of your works?

Absolutely. I heartily encourage any and all fan interpretations to my work, as long as copyright is adhered to. In fact, if you are an artist, please do contact me and we can maybe arrange something with your work. I would love to see any art, musical works, animations and fan-fictions (with any romantic pairing).

  • Do you accept Fan-mail or Fan-works by post?

Not currently. If you wish to send me something by post, please message or email me and we will work something out. If enough people wish to send me something, firstly thank you, and secondly, I will set up a PO Box.

  • What Formats do you offer Evil Dominion in?

SetaMasters.com currently offers the standard three digital formats: PDF, EPUB and MOBI. We recommend using PDF for the most high quality digital version, but the others consist of smaller memory usage and are better for devices with more limited/overwhelmed capacity. If you wish an alternate format be issued, please message me and we will look into it.

If you are not pleased with the digital format you have purchased, please contact me with the subject: “URGENT: FORMAT ISSUE” if you wish to be issued a different format, and please clarify in the message what went wrong and what you’d prefer. If you wish a refund, please subject the message as: “URGENT: REFUND” and clarify where you’d want your refund sent. Both will be asked for proof of purchase upon request.

On other sites, we publish on use a multitude of different digital formats, and all physical issues are handled through similar systems. If you ordered from any of these sites and wish similar, please contact them to sort your issue.

  • I haven’t received the product I ordered from the store, where is it?

All physical purchases in the store are made through external sites. SetaMasters.com has no current control in the manufacture or delivery of your item. If you are having problems, please contact the respective site you ordered from. Best of luck.

If you are having a problem ordering an Imp Plush, please check the order page for the relevant details to make your inquiry.

If you’re having problems with downloading content from SetaMasters.com, please use the contact page. Mark the subject as: “URGENT: DOWNLOAD ISSUE“, and I will get to you as soon as possible.

  • Why aren’t certain issues of the books available in physical formats?

Put simply, they’re too big. In their complete editions, Rhapsody of Fortune and Anarchy Circuit have far too many pages to be accepted by most major physical print sites. Until such a large book can be custom printed by a place capable, they have been split into separate parts. The ebooks are still available as either a complete edition or in parts, at your discretion.

  • Is Evil Dominion the only series you’re currently working on?

At the moment, yes. I would like to have made sizable progress on the series before I begin to think about anything else. However, I do have 1 or 2 ideas for other series that I might act on in future.

Keep an eye out for the anthology I have planned, you may see one or two unique ideas being tested.

  • Why is Evil Dominion not available at my local book shop? Or other sites outside those currently used.

The frank answer is, I’m currently self/independently published. Getting published, as it turns out, is rather hard, while certain places make this process a lot easier. Simply supporting the series and spreading the word is the best thing that can be done until then.

  • Is there an Audiobook version of Evil Dominion available?

Not currently. I am working on it, I promise. In fact, any assistance that can be made to speed up this process would be most appreciated.

  • Is Evil Dominion available in [INSERT LANGUAGE HERE]?

Again, another thing I am working on. More help would be again appreciated, and saying which language you would like would help me prioritise it. Nothing means more to me than seeing my series in more hands.

  • Are you accepting offers for placement on your website/promotional deals/etc?

I get this is all probably spam, but no. Any offers for any website material, promotional deals, or offers of any kind made through this website (especially without proper credentials) will be summarily ignored. Inquiries are limited to book materials only. Messages would preferably include the title of the series if you want to be singled out amongst the spam.

  • What is your favourite colour?

Odd question everyone asks.
One: Red. Absolutely Red. Read Evil Dominion and see that for yourself.
Two: Yes I said Colour, and Favourite, with a U. I’m British.
